FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the operation.

How long does the operation take?

The duration depends on the complexity — we operate until we have reached the goal. It may vary depending on whether it is combined with a neck lift, eyelid lift or fat grafting.

Will I have a general anaesthetic?

As a rule a general anaesthetic, administered by our in-house anaesthetists.

Do I have to stay overnight after the operation?

Yes, usually two nights in your own patient room. That allows us to monitor you closely and lets you wake up in peace.

Who is in the operating theatre during surgery?

Your surgeon (Assoc. Prof. Dr Rafic Kuzbari), a second surgeon assisting, an anaesthetist, theatre nursing staff and a surgical assistant.

Will I be examined again before the operation?

Yes — two weeks before surgery there is an internal medicine examination, a final informed-consent discussion and the definitive operation planning.

Which medications do I have to stop beforehand?

Aspirin and other blood-thinning medications should be stopped 10 days beforehand. We clarify all the details in the pre-operative discussion.

Can I eat and drink normally on the day of surgery?

No — nothing to eat or drink for 6 hours before the operation.

Are all safety standards guaranteed during surgery?

Yes. We are a licensed hospital with beds, approved by the Vienna provincial government, and ISO 9001 certified. All procedures take place in our own modern operating theatres with an in-house anaesthesia team — and you are looked after around the clock by experienced medical staff during and after the operation.

Your question is not there?

We are happy to take time for your personal questions.

In the first consultation we discuss everything you would like to know — in peace, without time pressure.
