Deep Plane Facelift

You do not look changed … only fresher and many years younger.

In a deep plane facelift the slackened tissue of the face is moved back into the position it once held. Loose skin is removed without tension. This is the best lifting method for a natural, un-operated appearance.

The deep plane facelift at Kuzbari

Not tightening — repositioning.

The deep plane facelift differs fundamentally from older lifting methods: instead of tightening the skin, we release the deep tissue layers — the SMAS, the cheek fat pads, the retaining ligaments — and move them back to where they once sat. The skin above is adapted into its new position without tension.

The decisive advantage: nothing is pulled. No mask-like look, no visible vectors, no altered expression. Instead a face that you and those around you perceive as “fresher, well rested” — without anyone being able to point to the procedure.

What is a deep plane facelift?

Assoc. Prof. Dr Kuzbari explains what sets the deep plane facelift apart from classic methods: instead of merely tightening the skin, the cheek tissue that has descended over the years is released and returned to its youthful position with very little tension — currently the most effective and most natural method of facial rejuvenation.

The myth of the “lunchtime lift”

Why there is no effective “minimally invasive” facelift.

Newspapers and magazines frequently advertise “modern” methods promising little surgical effort, rapid healing and short downtime. Tempting as that sounds — an effective “minimally invasive” facelift does not exist.

The reason lies in the anatomy: for a natural and longer-lasting result the connective tissue deep beneath the skin must be tightened, and that requires a certain amount of surgery. Technically simple tightening of the skin alone, by contrast, makes the face look unnatural and “lifted” — and the supposed rejuvenation lasts only briefly. A “lunchtime lift” carried out in a lunch break may last only until dinner.

That does not mean every lift has to be equally extensive. Which regions of face and neck are lifted, and to what degree, depends on the surgeon's analysis and on your wishes — the technique is adapted to your individual situation, not the other way round.

Why deep plane

Five reasons that speak for this method

  • A natural result

No mask-like appearance, no visible signs of surgery. Expression and character are fully preserved — you look more alert, not “different”.

  • Deep repositioning

We correct in the layer in which the tissue has actually descended. Superficial skin lifting alone would not be lasting.

  • Long-term benefit

The rejuvenating effect lasts 8–10 years — depending on skin quality, lifestyle and individual ageing. You continue to age afterwards, but from a markedly younger starting point.

  • Comprehensive correction

Jowls, marionette lines, deep nasolabial folds, an undefined jawline — all resolved in a single operation.

  • International gold standard

Today the most widely recognised technique worldwide for natural facial rejuvenation. We train other surgeons in it.

  • Safety at clinic level

Our own operating theatres, our own anaesthesia team, ISO 9001 certified. Licensed hospital approved by the Vienna provincial government.

Deep plane facelift with
Assoc. Prof. Dr Kuzbari

Host Victoria Ainedter talks with Assoc. Prof. Dr Kuzbari about the deep plane facelift. A technique that is currently shifting standards in Hollywood, Paris and New York and setting new benchmarks for natural facelift results. But what distinguishes a deep plane facelift from a classic facelift or SMAS facelift? Who is the procedure suitable for, and when do experienced surgeons deliberately advise against it?

The eight most common concerns

What deep plane can change

  • Jowls

The descended cheek fat is lifted back above the jawline.

  • Deep nasolabial folds

Instead of “filling” the folds, we address the cause — the descended cheek tissue.

  • Marionette lines

Lifted together with the cheek complex and thereby noticeably softened.

  • Undefined jawline

A clear jawline through repositioning of the lateral tissue.

  • Sagging neck / turkey neck

Resolved in combination with an open neck lift.

  • Hollow cheeks

Optionally combined with fat grafting from your own tissue.

  • Hooded lids (upper/lower)

On request, simultaneously with an eyelid lift in the same operation.

  • A tired, sunken gaze

An optional temple lift raises the outer brows gently.
