An honest assessment

Mini facelift in Vienna

A small incision, short downtime, a small price — the mini facelift sounds tempting, and the market advertises it under many names. It really can be the right choice. It can also be money thrown away. On this page we explain honestly where the line runs — and which path is the better one for whom.

What lies behind it

What a mini facelift is — and what it is not

In a mini facelift the lower third of the face is tightened through a shortened incision in front of the ear: jowls, incipient laxity along the jawline, the first blurring of the contour. The deeper connective tissue layer (SMAS) is mobilised only to a limited extent — which makes the procedure shorter, recovery faster and the price lower.

But that is precisely where its limit lies. A mini facelift reaches neither the midface nor the neck. Anyone who wants to correct descended cheeks, a deep nasolabial fold or lax neck skin will not be helped by the small variant — the cause lies deeper than the procedure reaches.

The market advertises minimally invasive lifts under many names: mini lift, weekend lift, one-stitch lift, thread lift. The names are marketing — what matters is which anatomical layer is actually moved. And that is decided not by the name of the method, but by the findings in your face.

Mini facelift or full facelift?

Both have their place. The question is not which method is better — but which one suits your findings.

Mini Facelift the small procedure Kuzbari deep plane facelift the complete solution
What is corrected The lower third of the face: incipient jowls, the first blurring of the jawline.
Who for Younger patients with mild laxity who want to counteract it early.
Downtime One to two weeks — the great practical advantage of the small procedure.
Durability About three to five years — the limited depth also limits the duration.
The risk of the wrong choice Anyone whose findings are too extensive for the small procedure pays twice: the result falls short of expectations, and the actual correction is still outstanding.

Our stance: the method follows the findings, never the other way round. In the consultation, Assoc. Prof. Dr Kuzbari tells you openly whether a mini lift will deliver what it promises for you — or whether it would only sell you a delayed disappointment.

Why we are reserved about the mini methods

Thread lifts and one-stitch techniques promise tightening entirely without conventional surgery. The results — where visible at all — have disappeared again after months or a few years, and we occasionally see patients in whom the inserted threads have left more irregularity than they brought tightening.

At the Kuzbari Centre we operate minimally invasively where the findings allow — but always in a surgically clean way, with genuine tissue fixation instead of a stopgap. If your findings are suitable for a mini facelift, you receive it here with the same precision as the major operation: from the hands of one of Europe's most experienced facelift surgeons.

FAQ

Mini facelift — what you wanted to know

What does a mini facelift cost in Vienna?

The market advertises mini lifts from around € 2,500 to € 6,000. At the Kuzbari Centre every facelift — including the small variant — costs considerably more, because the same specialist operates with the same team and the same care as in the major procedure. We name the specific price after the consultation, once the findings are clear.

Who is a mini facelift suitable for?

For patients with mild to moderate laxity in the lower third of the face — typically between 40 and 55 years of age. What matters is not age but the findings: the midface and neck must still be largely intact.

How do I know that a mini lift is no longer enough for me?

If the cheeks have descended, the nasolabial folds have deepened or the neck skin has become lax, the small technique no longer reaches the cause. In that case a mini facelift would cost money without solving the problem — we tell you that openly in the consultation.

How long does a mini facelift last?

About three to five years. For comparison: a full deep plane facelift lasts ten to fifteen years, because there the supporting tissue layers themselves are repositioned.

How long am I out of action after a mini facelift?

Considerably shorter than after the major procedure: after one to two weeks swelling and bruising have subsided far enough for you to go out among people again. Sport is possible again after about three weeks.

Will visible scars remain?

The shortened incision runs within the natural contours in front of the ear and is practically invisible on normal inspection once healed.

Is a thread lift an alternative?

In our view rarely. Threads lift the tissue only temporarily; the result is limited and short-lived, and inserted threads can leave irregularities. Anyone who wants genuine, lasting tightening needs a surgical fixation.

Can a mini facelift later be extended to a full facelift?

Yes. As natural ageing progresses, a full deep plane facelift can be performed later — in the same building, with the same surgeon, who will already know your anatomy.

Is the procedure carried out under anaesthesia?

Depending on the extent and your wishes, under local anaesthesia with sedation or under general anaesthesia — administered by our in-house anaesthesia team. We clarify what suits you in the consultation.

Why is the mini facelift more expensive with you?

Because the same surgeon operates as in the major facelift: Assoc. Prof. Dr Kuzbari, president of the ÖGPÄRC and an internationally sought-after teacher of facelift techniques. We have deliberately chosen not to be the cheapest — our ambition is to be the best. That applies to every size of procedure.

Can I combine the mini facelift with other procedures?

Yes, and often it makes sense: for example with an eyelid correction or autologous fat treatment for lost volume. We plan combined procedures so that you have only one recovery phase.

How does the consultation proceed?

In 45 to 60 minutes Assoc. Prof. Dr Kuzbari analyses your face, discusses your wishes and tells you openly which method suits your findings — even if the answer is that you do not (yet) need surgery at all.
