The course of a facelift at the Kuzbari Centre Vienna
Our promise

Bespoke work, never mass production.

On this page we explain how your wish for a younger yet naturally looking face becomes reality. Every step — from the first consultation through the pre-operative discussion and the surgery to aftercare — takes place in our own clinic in the heart of Vienna. That way you remain in familiar hands throughout your journey.

Your journey in six stages

The course of a facelift

From clicking the appointment button to lifelong care — six stages in which you always know what to expect and when.

  1. Booking your appointment
    Step 1

    Booking your appointment

Every facelift begins with booking your consultation. You can arrange your appointment around the clock through our online booking system, or by phone during our opening hours Monday to Friday from 8 am to 6 pm on +43 1 358 28 77.

  2. The consultation
    Step 2

    The consultation

In our detailed consultation we get to know each other personally. We seek to understand your wishes, analyse the age-related changes in your face and develop an operation plan created individually for you. We explain the surgery, how it proceeds and the period afterwards — including the possible risks and all open questions.

  3. Pre-operative discussion
    Step 3

    Pre-operative discussion

As soon as you decide to go ahead, our reception team arranges a suitable surgery date. A second appointment with Assoc. Prof. Dr Rafic Kuzbari is scheduled automatically — the pre-operative discussion. You are informed about all measures to be observed before and after the operation, and every detail is discussed once more in peace.

  4. The operation
    Step 4

    The operation

We ask you to arrive punctually at the Kuzbari Centre on the day of surgery. Your surgeon will mark your face with a surgical pen while you are seated and go through the steps once more — many patients find this reassuring. During the operation your surgeon is supported by our experienced theatre team; we use state-of-the-art medical technology and high-quality instruments. Bespoke work, never mass production.

  5. The first weeks afterwards
    Step 5

    The first weeks afterwards

After the operation you recover in peace on our ward — cared for around the clock by our attentive nursing team. Your meals are prepared by the neighbouring Park Hyatt Vienna. On discharge — usually after two nights — you receive valuable advice for your first days at home as well as pain medication for the first few days. We remain reachable for urgent questions.

  6. Lifelong care
    Step 6

    Lifelong care

Our support does not end with the last check-up. We remain your point of contact for everything to do with your result — even years after the procedure. That is the Kuzbari Experience.

The result: rejuvenated, without looking changed.

Your face stays yours – simply about ten years fresher. And we remain your point of contact, years later too.

The consultation: listening, analysing, planning.

For Dr Kuzbari every facelift is a project. He explains why listening comes first, why he always analyses the whole face — face and neck as one unit — and why he keeps photographs from your youth open on screen even during surgery.

The operation: duration, pain, recovery.

How long does a deep plane facelift take, how much does it hurt, how long is the social downtime? Dr Kuzbari speaks openly about the day of surgery and the weeks that follow — and about the one thing that is needed most afterwards: patience.

Catering & atmosphere

High-calibre medicine paired with the ambience of a luxury hotel

The Kuzbari Centre combines high-calibre medicine with the flair of a luxury hotel — visible in the architecture and in the catering alike. On entering the clinic, the design by Italian star architect Francesco Lopez catches the eye; with his team he has furnished, among others, villas for Dolce & Gabbana.

Patients staying overnight also enjoy catering that sets a new benchmark for private clinics. Freshly prepared by the neighbouring Park Hyatt hotel, you may choose between king prawns from the lava stone grill or sea bass in lemon thyme. Despite the luxury flair, prices for patients remain unchanged — made possible by better use of resources and capacity.

Checklist

How to recognise a professional consultation.

The first consultation is the most important phase of an aesthetic operation — more important than the procedure itself. These points should be fulfilled at the end of a good consultation, with us as with any other doctor:

  • Did the doctor take enough time during the first consultation?
  • Was I able to articulate my wishes and expectations precisely?
  • Were possible treatment alternatives explained?
  • Did the doctor understand and document my wishes?
  • Was I informed about the possibilities, limits and risks of the operation?
  • Was I told about the nature and duration of the healing process?
  • Do I know where I will be operated on and what quality standard the operating theatre meets?
  • Was I told whether the consulting doctor will also perform the operation personally?
  • Do I know which form of anaesthesia is planned and whether an anaesthetist will be present?
  • Was I informed how I will feel and look after the operation (swelling, bruising, scars)?
  • Do I know how long the social downtime will last?
  • Was a detailed, complete cost estimate drawn up?
  • Was I told to what extent aftercare will be provided?

Frequently asked questions about the process

Answers that create clarity.

How does a facelift at the Kuzbari Centre proceed in principle?

The process begins with a detailed consultation in which your wishes and the anatomical changes of your face are analysed and possible treatment options discussed. An individual operation plan is then drawn up. Before the procedure there is a pre-operative discussion covering all details of the surgery and important behavioural measures. The operation itself takes place in our own clinic; you are accompanied through every phase by an experienced team. Afterwards comes a careful aftercare phase in which we look after you medically and monitor the healing process.

How long does a facelift consultation take?

A consultation with Assoc. Prof. Dr Rafic Kuzbari usually lasts 60 to 90 minutes. During this time your facial anatomy, age-related changes and your personal wishes are discussed in detail. The aim is to develop an individually tailored treatment plan that makes natural, harmonious results possible.

Why is a second appointment arranged before the operation?

The pre-operative discussion serves to go through all details of the operation once more in peace. Important preparatory measures are explained, open questions answered and the course of the surgery and aftercare set out precisely again. This conversation contributes significantly to your being optimally prepared and informed going into the procedure.

How long do you stay in the clinic after a facelift?

Most patients spend two nights in our clinic after the operation. During this time you are looked after around the clock by our medical team.

How long am I not presentable after a facelift?

Most people allow about four weeks until they are fully presentable again. Swelling and bruising usually subside noticeably sooner, but the tissue needs some time to stabilise completely.

What preparations are important before surgery?

On the day of surgery you should not use facial creams and must arrive fasting — nothing to eat or drink for about six hours beforehand. Certain medications that affect blood clotting must not be taken for 10 days before the operation; you will be informed in good time. Water may be drunk up to two hours before the procedure. Further individual instructions follow in the pre-operative discussion.

Why is individual planning so important for a facelift?

Every face is unique — in its anatomy, its proportions, its pattern of ageing. Individual planning ensures that the surgical techniques are matched precisely to you and that a natural, harmonious result emerges. Standardised approaches, by contrast, often lead to mask-like results or an altered character.

Dr Kuzbari explains

The right moment for a facelift.

The earlier the better? Dr Kuzbari names two simple criteria by which the ideal moment for a facelift can be recognised — and why waiting a long time is not always the better decision.
