Facelifting for women

Female facial ageing — and its precise correction.

Female facial ageing follows its own patterns: different vectors of descent, different skin thickness, different bone structure. We take these particularities into account in every plan — and above all avoid one thing: an unwanted change of character.

What happens during ageing

Cheek fat descends, volume disappears.

Over the years it is above all those facial soft tissues that are not firmly anchored by ligaments that become lax. The cheek fat descends, causing jowls, deep nasolabial and marionette folds, laxity of the upper cheek region and a hollow-looking transition between the lower lid and the cheek. Overall the facial outline appears increasingly square rather than youthfully triangular or heart-shaped.

In addition there is age-related volume loss — for example in the midface, at the temples or in the transition between lower lid and cheek. This can make the face look tired or hollow, even when the skin is still relatively smooth.

Modern technique

Repositioning instead of skin tightening.

Modern facelift techniques move descended tissue back into its original position. The skin is not “pulled”, but adapted without tension. The result looks soft, natural and never artificial.

A central aim in a facelift for women is to preserve feminine features: soft cheek contours, a harmonious transition to the neck and natural expression. A change of “character” is deliberately avoided.

Choosing the technique

Which method for which anatomy?

  • SMAS facelift

Suitable for moderate descent of the facial soft tissue. Allows natural tightening of the lower cheek and jaw region. Less suitable for repositioning the entire descended cheek fat pad.

  • Extended/high SMAS

Allows more effective tightening of the upper cheek region — in addition to the lower cheek and the chin.

  • Deep Plane Facelift

Similar to extended/high SMAS, but with biomechanical advantages that allow a more comprehensive and more effective lift.

Frequent additions

What often accompanies a facelift in women

  • Autologous fat grafting

Where the midface has lost volume with age, the body's own fat cells gently restore youthful fullness — for instance in the transition from lower lid to cheek or at the temples.

  • Neck lift

The chin and neck line that the facelift opens up in the lower face is carried through consistently by a neck lift — against lax neck skin and prominent platysmal bands.

  • Eyelid lift

Hooded lids and lax lower-lid skin make the gaze look tired. An upper and/or lower eyelid lift rejuvenates the eye region — on request in the same procedure.

  • Brow lift

Brows that have descended laterally make the upper face look tired. Raising them gently — often as part of the facelift — opens up the gaze.

FAQ

Facelifting for women — your questions, clearly answered.

What is different about female facial ageing?

Female facial ageing follows its own patterns: different vectors of descent, different skin thickness and a different bone structure. Above all the cheek fat descends, causing jowls, nasolabial and marionette folds, and facial outlines that appear increasingly square rather than youthfully triangular. In addition there is age-related volume loss in the midface.

Will a facelift change my facial character?

No. A central aim is to preserve feminine features — soft cheek contours, a harmonious transition to the neck and natural expression. Modern techniques move descended tissue back instead of “pulling” the skin. A change of character is deliberately avoided.

Which technique is right for me?

That depends on your anatomy. The SMAS facelift suits moderate descent, the extended/high SMAS additionally tightens the upper cheek region, and the deep plane facelift offers biomechanical advantages for a more comprehensive lift. The technique is adapted to your individual situation, not the other way round.

Will the result look natural?

Yes. The skin is not stretched but adapted without tension, after the deep structures have been repositioned. The result looks soft and natural — you look fresher and younger, not operated on.

Which procedures are often combined with it?

Frequent additions are autologous fat grafting against volume loss, a neck lift for a clear chin and neck line, and an eyelid lift for the eye region. Which combination makes sense is clarified in the personal consultation.

How long does recovery take?

Most women allow about four weeks until they are fully presentable again. Swelling and bruising usually subside noticeably sooner; the final result becomes apparent after around six months.
